Confirmation
and New Calling for Anthropological Documentary
Films for the 16th IUAES World Congress |

| Dear Colleagues, |
Since ¡°Call for Documentary
Films¡± was publicized on the website of
16th IUAES World Congress, Visual Anthropological
Group of Organizing Committee for the Congress
has received over 300 anthropological documentaries
till January 30th, 2008.
As it was decided that the congress be held
in July, 2009 in Kunming, the preparing
work of film festival is restarted recently.
Please find the information of confirmation
and new calling for anthropological Documentary
films.

of the Approved Documentary Films |
If the submitted documentary
films would not like to participate in the
screening and contest for the 16th IUAES
World Congress in 2009 or if there is any
change, please inform the Visual Anthropology
group by E-mail. (E-mail Address: anthropology@126.com.
Make sure the title of the mail is ¡°changing
of submitted films¡±)
If there is no special announcement, the
approved films will be kept for screening
and contest for the 16th IUAES World Congress
in 2009.

| ¢ò. Calling
for New Documentary Films |
In order to collect more
films, Visual Anthropology group has decided
to extend the deadline of submission and
accept submission of new films, especially
those that have been produced since February,
2008. Here are instructions in detail:
1. Themes
To correspond to the theme of the 16th Congress
of IUAES, themes that are encouraged including:
existence of ethnic culture, urbanization,
development of rural area, occupation, gender,
industry, observation of organization, folk
and cultural heritage protection, human
nature, cultural and social changes in individual
life, and other culture-related themes.
2. Instructions for Participation
1) Anthropological and documentary films
that have been produced since January, 2008;
no restrictions on the style and length
of films.
2) Participant films are expected to correspond
to the theme of the 16th Congress of IUAES
(¡°Humanity, Development and Cultural Diversity¡±).
3) Documentaries along with research texts
based on fieldwork are especially encouraged.
4) English scripts are required for those
non-English dialogue works.
5) The individual participant must be the
producer or the first writer (eg. director).
6) All the works must not violate against
copyright and honor right of others.
7) As for the format, considering the oncoming
deadline, a professional Sony beta and 2
DVD discs are expected from new applicants.
3. Process of submission
Applicants can download a register form
and send it to us along with film works.
Please also send us related research texts
like academic thesis, book and research
report if there is any included. All the
text materials should have electronic edition
in ¡°WORD¡± format attached.
A warrant/guarantee table needs to fill
out. The content of the table includes:
the participant must make sure that he/she
owns the copyright of the film and can authorize
it to be screened in public; the participant
give credit to have the participant works
screened during the congress; the participants
give credit to the film festival organizing
group to use the materials he/she has offered
(including texts and photos) as publicity;
the information in the register table will
be used only by the congress and are protected
by relevant law; participants have to take
full responsibility of intellectual property
rights or other violations; the festival¡¯s
working committee is not liable for the
loss or damage of the materials during their
mailing. It is however responsible for the
safe storage of the relevant materials after
they are mailed to us. The materials received
will not be returned.
